Archaeological Assessments

Archaeologists marking a Culturally Modified Tree

At this stage of the assessment an archeologist is contacted and an archaeological assessment is done on the proposed harvest area. They examine the proposed area for culturally modified trees, the proximity to previously identified archaeological sites, and indicators for possible sites such as proximity to marine and water resources. They then make proposed changes to the harvest area or the proposal to add reserves around the culturally modified trees they find.
